I have always loved the African Bush, and my husband and Land-Rovers have made it possible for me to have many adventures throughout Africa. I met Scrappy when we bought him around 1995 from some Danish tourists. He was in a very dilapidated state and when Rob Leimer from Leimer’s Land-Rovers saw him the first time, he said “Ahh, you brought that scrappy little Land-Rover”, – hence the name Scrappy. The longest trip we had with him was via Botswana and Hwange to Zambia, back via Kariba and Mana Pools National Park. I have always wanted to write children’s books specifically about Scrappy and his adventures. My other big love is firearms, and I have brought the two together in this, the first of a series of books about Scrappy and his two friends Mandla and Kirsten, and their adventures. The book ends with a gun safety message for children. I hope children will enjoy his adventures as much as I have enjoyed traveling with him through Africa. – Lynette Oxley
